Can I participate with the TRIO Upward Bound program?
9TH-11TH GRADERS
Are you a rising or current 9th-11th grader?
You are encouraged to apply if you are a rising or current 9th-11th grader attending Miyamura, Gallup, or Tohatchi high schools. If you attend McKinley Academy and your home school is one of our target schools - Miyamura, Gallup, or Tohatchi - you may also apply to our program.
**First Generation to College
Am I considered a first generation to college student?
You are a potential first generation to college student if neither of your parents and/or guardians have not yet received a 4-year bachelor’s degree. If your parent/guardian has obtained a certificate and/or associate's degree, you are still considered a potential first generation to college student. If your siblings have obtained a 4-year bachelor's degree, you are still considered a potential first generation to college student. #FirstGenProud!
**Low-Income Eligible
“I don’t think I qualify as low-income.”
Low-income eligibility is determined by the U.S Department of Education’s federal low-income guidelines based on taxable income information & the number of household members.
Demonstrates Desire to Attend College
Do you want to attend college?
If you have the desire to attend college, but need some help and guidance navigating the college-going process, we are the program for you! Preparing for college can be overwhelming and intimating, but we are here to help you reach your goals.
**You must meet either the first-generation and/or low-income qualifications to participate in the Upward Bound program at the UNM Gallup campus.
